PECO will direct the customer to the correct office, according to area. If the buyer presently has service in the Philadelphia area, they can change service over the phone. However, if the buyer doesn't have service they must go to their local office, present proof of identification, and fill out a credit report.

Pennsylvania Driver's License Information:
The closest Penn Dot facility to the Main Line area is the Island Avenue Center at 2320 Island Avenue in Philadelphia (215-937-1351).
It is open Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. When you go, bring your out-of-state license and your Social Security Card. Be prepared to take an eyesight test and to answer questions from the Pennsylvania Drivers Manual. The fee for a Normal Class license is $24.
The minimum driving age is 16. New residents must file for licenses and registration within 60 days of moving to the commonwealth.

Car Registration:
Any car dealer, Notary Public, or 24-hour Auto License Tag Service will be able to register your car. You will need the following:
- Title or Title Release Authorization Form from your bank or lending institution
- proof of Pennsylvania car insurance with the company name and policy number
- mileage
- tracing of serial number or verification from a licensed mechanic.
The fee to register your vehicle in Pennsylvania is $24.00 for a passenger car, and cars must be inspected once a year at a licensed Pennsylvania inspection garage or gas station.
The notary or dealer will issue a permanent tag with a "T" sticker. Then, the car must be inspected within five days. You will receive your current year sticker along with your registration from Harrisburg through the mail.
Phone Service:
Verizon provides both local and long distance service; although, you might want to check with some of the other long distance providers (Sprint, etc.) to compare rates.
You can call Verizon at 800-660-2215 or make service arrangements on line at www.verizon.com (click on the "order new phone service" link). When you sign up with Verizon for local service be sure to ask about "Metropolitan Service." This lets you call the Philadelphia suburban region without incurring extra fees. "Local Service," on the other hand, covers only the immediate Main Line area.
The Main Line suburbs are serviced by Comcast Cable. Call 215-389-1944 to subscribe.
